Bike Hire Insurance (Breakdown & Damage Cover)

Our Bike Hire Insurance is designed to provide peace of mind while protecting both the rider and our equipment. Please read the terms carefully.

What’s Included

  • Accidental Damage Cover
Covers the cost of repair or replacement of the hired bicycle in the event of accidental damage resulting from a crash or incident during normal use.

  • Replacement Bike (if available)
In the event your bike is no longer rideable due to covered damage, we will provide a replacement bike where reasonably possible.

  • Roadside Collection (Road Rides Only)
We will collect you and the bicycle in the event of a mechanical breakdown or crash, subject to the limitations below.

Important Limitations

  • Geographical Limit
Breakdown collection is limited to a maximum of 90 km or 90 minutes driving time from our base in Vélez de Benaudalla (whichever is lower).
Incidents outside this range are not covered.

  • No Off-Road Recovery
This insurance does not include recovery for off-road riding, including gravel or mountain bike routes.
Riders undertaking off-road routes must be fully self-sufficient and capable of arranging their own return.

  • Third-Party Damage
Damage caused by a third party (e.g. vehicle collision) is not covered under this policy.
Claims must be made against the responsible party’s insurance.

  • Theft & Loss Not Covered
This policy does not cover theft, loss, or unattended bicycles under any circumstances.

  • Personal Injury or Liability
    This insurance does not cover:

    • Personal injury or medical expenses

    • Loss of earnings

    • Damage to third-party property

    • Liability claims of any kind

  • Negligence or Misuse
Damage arising from misuse, negligence, failure to follow instructions, or use outside the intended purpose of the bicycle is excluded.

Excess

  • A €150 excess applies to all claims.
This amount is payable by the rider in all cases of damage covered under this policy.

Rider Responsibilities

  • The rider is responsible for using the bicycle in a safe and appropriate manner.

  • The bicycle must not be used outside its intended purpose (e.g. road bikes off-road).

  • In the event of an incident, the rider must contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

What This Really Means (Plain English)

If you crash and damage the bike—we’ve got you covered (minus €150).
If you’re within a sensible distance on the road—we’ll come get you.
If you head off-road into the mountains or way beyond range—you’re on your own.
If someone else destroys the bike—it’s their insurance, not ours.
If the bike disappears—it’s your responsibility.
