Cycle sierra nevada Scholarship Program

From 2014 we will be providing a number of opportunities for young cyclists, both male and female, to take part in one of our training camps completely free of charge. Cycle Sierra Nevada will be offering a number of places each year on their Scholarship Program to young athletes in an attempt to assist them in their aspiring careers.

WHO ARE YOU?

I'm Caimin Muldoon, I'm 17 and live in the west of Ireland in Loughrea, Galway.

WHO DO YOU RIDE FOR? TRAINING PARTNERS?

I will be riding with NRPT for 2015, after a very eventful and enjoyable 2014 with the Nicolas Roche Performance Team. I usually train by myself or with my local cycling club, Seven Springs CC.

WHY DID YOU START CYCLING?

I got into triathlons around 2008 and did quite well in every event I entered largely down to the fact I was a decent cyclist. After a year or two of triathlons I joined Seven Springs CC, which was just being set up at the time. There must have been something about cycling that I liked and I stuck at it despite getting annihilated in my first race. It took me about 2 years to start getting some results in cycling, in my last year of under 16 racing I did very well and managed to earn my place on the Nicholas Roche Performance Team.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT CYCLING?

I love racing, being in the break and riding as hard as I can.

FAVOURITE PIECE OF CYCLING KIT/BIKE ETC.?

Good colour coordination and general attention to detail. Does that count?

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

Making myself and everyone who supports me proud and happy with my performance.

KEY GOALS FOR NEXT SEASON?

Getting back to full fitness and hopefully performing well in the Junior Tour of Ireland

HOPES/PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?

I'd like to turn Pro eventually but just to enjoy the sport and make the most of all my opportunities.
